Sunday December 13, I'm going to be at the Barnes & Noble store, 2518 South Road in Poughkeepsie, NY, to sign copies of A Little History and chat. I'm delighted to be doing so in tandem with one of my favorite groups, The Strawberry Hill Fiddlers. The fiddlers are part of Stringendo, an orchestra school for strings in the Hudson Valley, and [full disclosure] I'm on the board of directors. There are actually five different fiddle groups in the program and all will be performing that afternoon from 1-4 pm. The most senior group, the Strawberries, have several terrific CDs out and available on iTunes. For more about the program, this video showcases Stringendo's mission and musical groups. That mission includes outreach through financial aid to students throughout the Hudson Valley who would otherwise be unable to pursue the dream of making great music.
I'd love to see you this Sunday, of course, as would the Fiddlers. But even if you can't make it, you can help them thanks to a Bookfair program in place with Barnes & Noble. When you buy anything online at B & N, from Sunday December 13 through Friday December 18, a portion of your purchase will go to Stringendo. To shop, enter via http://www.barnesandnoble.com/h/bookfairs and when you check out, include Stringendo's code 11730314 as directed by the instructions. Stringendo thanks you!
